Deborah Yewande Bankole is a South East London based creative producer, programmer, journalist and writer. Currently based at the Southbank Centre, she is lead producer for the biennial Africa Utopia Festival as well as lead public programme producer for Meltdown Festival (Nile Rodgers, Grace Jones). Deborah specialises in producing participatory work in public, community based spaces. Her work focuses on democratising art and creating live cultural experiences for people to engage, connect and see themselves in. She has written for the Huffpost, looking at stories of those who move and exploring the idea of home beyond place.
